Parkhurst

  • CORRECTION re; 22nd street attempted burglary: There were 3 suspects. 2 entered the house by forcing the garage door open with crowbars. A laptop and cellphone were taken
  • The arrest witnessed took place when a car guard was drinking in public & harassing members of the public. The guard was arrested for drinking in public & taken to Parkview Police station.
  • An attempted business burglary was reported Cnr 4th ave & 6th street. The suspects fled the scene to unknown location leaving behind a crowbar, a torch and a male cap. Nothing was stolen and suspect failed to gain access.

ALERTS:
Once again we would like to reiterate that hijackings and armed robberies are on the increase in the greater Johannesburg area.

SECUREEnsure your gates / garage doors are secure & cannot be lifted off the rails. Secure gate motors with suitable anti-theft devices.
CHECK: Walk around your perimeter to check for easy access points & address these.
TEST: Conduct regular alarm, panic button, electric fence & beam testing. Contact the CORTAC Control Room when testing so they can place your system in “test mode”. Please do alarm testing from 11h00 and 14h00

REMEMBER:

  • Crime is taking place primarily during the day time, at night we all tend to have our doors closed and security activated, whereas during the day homes are open & security deactivated as we/domestic workers (etc.) carry out daily activities. PLEASE BE AS VIGILANT DURING THE DAY as you would AT NIGHT.

SECURITY TIPS:
TIPS: When seated at a restaurant sidewalk, don’t leave cell phones on the table or hand bags exposed sidewalk facing. Keep hand bags on your lap or out of sight from the sidewalk & cell phones in pockets/hand bags.
TIPS: When returning home and exiting your vehicle, be cautious and aware of surrounding obstructions and shrubbery that may be concealing a hijacker.
