Safeparks/Parksec Crime Update: 5 – 14 June 2017

Parkhurst , Parktown North and Parkwood residents and business owners

The following includes crimes reported to us over the period

More details relating to the incidents listed above:
Parkhurst
-Arrest by CORTAC, occurred on 4th avenue and 6th street, when 3 male suspects were involved in a house burglary on 11th street as reported above . Cortac Officers spotted them on foot and gave chase, suspects ran into the Spruit, Cortac called for backup with SAPS and arrested the 3 suspects – 2 of the suspects were minors (under the age of 18 years).
-Driveway Armed Robbery occurred on 8th street, the victim was coming home from Rosebank Mall in an Uber vehicle and stopped outside his house, 4 bravo males, one armed male climbed into the Uber vehicle and took the victim’s Rolex watch, cellphone and gold chain – Suspects vehicle – SILVER VW GOLF 7R (Reg No:CS06SRGP).
-Business Burglary occurred on 6th street, suspects forced open the front door and stole clothing, computer and cash.

Parktown North
Theft out of Motor Vehicle occurred at Parktown Quarter , victim’s vehicle was car jammed and a suitcase was taken out of the boot.

ALERTS
-Please be alert when leaving surrounding shopping malls for follow homes. A suspect will stand at the entrance of the Mall and call his assailants with information and thus the follow home usually occurs once you are out of the car park. Double check your surroundings before stooping in your drive way- Call CORTAC for meet and greet services if you are unsure!
– Please be vigilant, criminals are targeting Uber vehicles as they are a soft target for crimes – check your surroundings before Uber stops at your destination.
-Please check credentials of City Power Contracters before you let them in – see details below.
