Safeparks/Parksec Crime Update: 6 August – 14 August 2017

The following includes crimes reported to us over the period

More details relating to the incidents listed above:
Parkhurst
– Theft out of motor vehicle occurred on 4th avenue and 6th street, unknown suspects smashed the back window of a Toyota Hilux Bakkie and stole a bag with clothing.
– Property Theft occurred on 8th street, unknown suspects stole building material from the pavement.
– Vehicle theft occurred on 15th street, unknown suspects stole a White VW Polo (Reg no:WKZ552GP), which was parked outside on the street, while the visitor was visiting a friend.
-Business Burglary occurred on 6th street, suspects smashed the windows and stole computers.
-All other crime incidents were reported directly to SAPS Parkview and thus further information is not available.

Parktown North
-House breaking occurred in Parktown North, suspects smashed the window and gained access into the house, TV and unknown items stolen.
-All other crime incidents were reported directly to SAPS Parkview and thus further information is not available.

ALERTS/HOTSPOTS
-Vehicle Theft and Theft out of Motor Vehicle is a serious problem along 4th avenue and streets adjacent to 4th avenue. Please alert all your friends who visit Parkhurst to not park there for long periods of time or to try and UBER to Parkhurst.
– Residents if you do not have off street parking and your visitors drive a Toyota, VW Polos then please rather park your car outside should it not be one of these makes and let your visitor’s park inside – this will help reduce vehicle theft.
– PLEASE ALERT AND TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES (GARDENERS AND DOMESTICS) TO HAVE A SPECIFIC COMMUNICATION PLAN WITH YOU FOR WHEN UNKNOWN PERSONS RING YOUR DOOR BELL – THE ATTEMPTED HOUSE ROBBERY THAT OCCURRED IN PARKHURST, THE DOMESTIC WAS EXPECTING A LEGIT CONTRACTOR AND THUS OPENED FOR THE FRAULULANT CONTRACTORS. PLEASE ALERT YOUR EMPLOYEES NOT TO OPEN UNLESS YOU HAVE VERIFIED THE IDENTITY OF THE CONTRACTORS AT YOUR GATE EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE EXPECTING THEM.
